What: Middle School ATSSB All-Region Band Auditions

When: Saturday, January 25 at LaVernia JH. Students will meet at BMS Band Hall at 7:30am. Auditions start at 10am and go until the last person has auditioned, usually about 4-5 hours. My guess is that we will return to BMS around 5pm. (You may leave with a parent when finished auditioning.)

Who: Select 6^th-8^th grade band students.

Transportation: We will take a school bus to LaVernia. If you do not plan on riding the bus back to Blanco, there will be a parent/guardian sign-out sheet. If you are going home with a friend, you will need to bring a signed permission note by your parent/guardian (or email Mrs. Conard in advance).

What do I need to bring? Instrument (in good playing condition), audition music (including any handouts or fingering charts you use), accessories (reeds, valve oil, sticks/mallets), a pencil (to mark the cuts in the music), a cell phone (not allowed in the audition rooms, but needed to call home when finished), money, or a sack dinner/snacks (there will be a concession stand for food/snacks, and we will stop at Bucees on the way back), and homework/books (it gets boring in the holding rooms). 

What do I need to wear? Casual, comfortable clothes. Nobody will see you during the auditions, but you are representing Blanco MS and need to dress appropriately.

What happens when my child makes the Region Band? Any student that makes the band will miss school all day Tuesday, February 4 for rehearsals with the All-Region Band. There will be a concert that evening at 7:00pm at LaVernia HS Auditorium. The concert is free, and parents are strongly encouraged to attend. Students will receive a patch for their HS letter jacket, and t-shirts, plaques, and CDs will be available to purchase. More information will be in their Region Band folder.

Chaperones: We could use a few parents to help chaperone this trip. It is a very easy day, but we just need someone to help keep an eye on the kids’ belongings, monitor the sign-out sheet, and simply just be there for the kids. All band directors will be judging in the audition rooms. Please let me know if you are willing and available to chaperone.
